Right, No Hitbacks do have a really good lead guitarist…who does some excellent tapping…and seems to like Van Halen, A LOT. At last night’s gig, the remaining band members were apparently pretty keen to make their admiration of this guy very clear. They even gave him a whole track’s worth of limelight to show the crowd exactly what he could do. So I can’t help wondering, why on earth didn’t they include more of this in their actual songs? For despite the enthusiastic ‘AARRGHH!’s that kicked it all off in a positive manner, beyond the bulk of distorted rhythm guitar there simply wasn’t enough going on here to create a substantial set. Ending track ‘Wasted’ succeeded in generating a greater sense of anticipation, but generally they could have done with sticking in the odd tempo change, varied dynamics or more lead guitar or something to add a bit of colour.

Set list:
- ‘Mike’s Song’
- ‘(Solo)’

hey, very much appreciate the honesty in this review. baring in mind though it was our first ever gig on monday night i think we did okay, but yeah it’s a case of us learning how to swim at the moment. but again nice to have honesty instead of people kissin your arse. chris (lead singer/rythym guitarist of No Hitbacks)
Hi Chris,
Sorry for the delay in replying,
I have to admit I didnt realise it was your first ever gig, and bearing that in mind you certainly did a fair job. You have the potential to do really well; just keep writing stuff and continue to play together on a regular basis.
We wish you all the best
