Think late Greenday, with blues solos, and you have ‘Condition Black’. There is nothing new here, but it must be remembered that they have an average age of 17, and for them to get called back by the Academy a mere month after debuting there, is quite a feat. Their no-frills punk rock is well polished, pulsing and confidently exhibited, except when playing earlier material. Solos are impressive, but their songs are generally too formulaic to standout in any other way. ‘Try it With Your Sister’ contained the band’s best moment; a sweet harmonized hook to end the track, and if the band want to expand their horizons, they must grab moments like these and duplicate them throughout their material.
