Purveyors of thick, concentrated distortion, big bass lines, chugging metal riffs and some mean rock star poses, Coporial did a surprisingly good job of revving up a crowd largely consisting of bouncy teenage girls. Musically, although technically proficient, there was little variation of pace and mood, but when riffs and licks came together and gained greater momentum (e.g. in ‘Resolution’) they were very good. The drumming, however, really could do with being beefed out as it was too thin for such a heavy sound, and the vocals – while energetic and delivered with feeling – hit a different, perhaps more emotional note than the main guitar/bass formula and didn’t fully complement the overall vibe and sound. In fact, it has since been announced that lead singer Jason has now left the band; surely a sign that they’re better off pursuing their different styles. Best of luck to both parties.

6/10 (but capable of more)
