A lot of indie doesn’t interest me. This, however, does. An awesome, wah soaked psycadelic intro to ‘Ashley’ really made me listen; this is well written, inventive stuff. Plenty of drive and pace, complexish but not pretentious harmonies and an ability to capture any mood imaginable. ‘Beirut’s’ gorgeously smooth blues lead and unexpected but effective tempo shift into some sort of low-down groove topped an impressive performance, but still left room for the final surprise; a heavy rock guitar ending to ‘Scattered Bones’ with rapped vocals. Very good indeed.
